TBWACHIATDAY ACQUIRES TORONTO INTERACTIVE AGENCY

TBWAChiatDay has acquired Toronto-based interactive agency Communicopia. Financial details were not disclosed. According to TBWA, the move is part of the development of its operations model in Canada. TBWAChiatDay Canada consists of TBWAChiatDay Toronto, Bryant Fulton & Shee of Vancouver and Tam Tam TBWA Montreal. Communicopia builds Web-based business systems for clients including TD Bank, Merrill Lynch, Fidelity Investment, Trimark, AIM Mutual Funds and Nesbitt Burns. "This is not just another integration story," said David Fong, chief executive of TBWAChiatDay Canada. Communicopia will operate as a separate entity under the TBWA Worldwide network, keeping its name, 70 employees and current management team, including CEO Tracey Wood.
