BIG ROCK PLANS DEAL WITH WHISTLER BREWING

Calgary-based Big Rock Brewery Ltd. has signed letters of intent with the securityholders of Whistler Brewing Company of Whistler, BC and Bear Brewing Co. Ltd. of Kamloops, BC to acquire Whistler Brewing and enter into a licensing agreement with Bear Brewing to brew Whistler's brands. "Big Rock believes the brands and associations brought together by these agreements will greatly improve its market position in British Columbia," said Ed McNally, chairman and CEO of Big Rock Brewery. In addition to its own brands Black Tusk Ale, Whistler Premium Lager and Avalanche Pilsner, Whistler Brewing also brews all the brands for the Bowen Island Brewing Company. Big Rock's brands include Traditional Ale, Grasshopper Wheat Ale and Kold Lager. Financial details of the transactions were not disclosed.
