JUGO JUICE SQUEEZES INTO FOUR NEW LOCATIONS
By Adnews Staff
Calgary-based Jugo Juice will open four new locations in British Columbia over the next six to eight weeks, backed by a public relation effort in that area. The company serves made-to-order smoothies and fresh-pressed juices. The first new store will open on March 10 on Robson Street in Vancouver. Jugo Juice was founded by Jason Cunningham and Derek Brock, two former Starbucks managers. Its first location opened in Calgary in December 1998. The chain currently consists of 12 locations in Alberta and BC. By the end of 2001, the company plans to have 34 locations open in Alberta, BC and Ontario. "When you hear the word 'coffee' you think of a brand. When people hear the word 'smoothie', we want them to think of us," said Cunnigham. The company puts its stores in high traffic, street level or food-court locations. The decor consists of a green and purple color scheme, large steel fruit decorations and Latin background music. Public relations for Jungo Juice are handled by Barr & Wilcox Group of Vancouver.
