BOYD AUTOBODY & GLASS AWARDS ACCOUNT

Winnipeg-based Boyd Autobody & Glass has awarded its creative and media responsibilities to Vrlak & Company and Taylor Made Media, both of Vancouver. Boyd operates 63 collision repair shops in Canada and the U.S. Previously advertising was handled in-house. The move to an external agency is needed because of the rapid growth Boyd has experienced in the past three years, said Kevin Comrie, vice-president of sales and marketing for Boyd. Vrlak will be responsible for the creative portion of the account and Taylor will handle strategy and media buying. The two had pitched the account as a team and were one of three finalists chosen from a shortlist of eight agencies. Comrie would not identify the other finalists but did confirm one was based in Winnipeg and the other was out of Toronto. Vrlak and Taylor will initially focus their efforts on Western Canada, Comrie said.
