Toronto-based Roots has inked an agreement with the United States Olympic Committee that makes the retailer the official outfitter of the 2002 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams. In its role of official outfitter, Roots will supply the parade uniform, podium award outfit and casual attire for the athletes competing in the 2002 games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Roots held the same title for the Canadian teams at the 1998 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan and for the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Sydney, Australia, providing parade, podium and casual wear to all Canadian athletes coaches and team members. The retailer is also signed on to outfit the Canadian team through the 2004 games in Athens, Greece.
