CANADIAN HOTELS BRANDED UNDER FAIRMONT
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts, whose brands include Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Canadian Pacific Hotels and Delta Hotels, announced a new branding strategy in which all of its hotels in Canada would now be under the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts banner. The company said its hotels, such as The Chateau Laurier, the Chateau Frontenac and the Banff Springs, will be branded with the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand but will retain their individual names because of historic significance. Canadian Pacific acquired a 67% ownership in Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in October 1999 and has been operating its hotels in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean markets under the Fairmont brand for the past year. William Fatt, chairman and chief executive of Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts, said there was a need to consolidate the hotels under one flag. By putting the hotels under one brand, the company can create a consistent sales message and grow internationally, he said.
