RADIOSHACK GIVING E-GIFTS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Electronics retailer RadioShack Canada, based in Barrie, Ontario, is launching a new E-Gift program in its stores this holiday season through Ernex Marketing Technologies of Burnaby, BC. The E-Gifts are electronic gift certificates in the form of plastic cards with magnetic strips. A dollar value, cards are available in denominations of $25, $50 and $100, is loaded on the card and with each purchase, the total is deducted. It is not necessary to spend the entire amount at one time. RadioShack is supporting the launch of its new electronic Gift Card program with marketing activities including videos on its in-store network RSTV, inserts, promotion in its monthly flyer program and in-store point-of-sale materials. A television component through a partnership with Rogers Wireless is scheduled to launch Nov. 20. Lyndsay Walter, director of advertising for RadioShack Canada, said additional marketing activities may include a Swipe 'N Win sweepstakes and custom couponing. The ongoing E-Gift program is launching in 600 of the more than 825 RadioShack locations across Canada. Print advertising is done in-house. The television ad is being done by Wolf Group of Toronto.
