SWISS CHALET'S FESTIVE SPECIAL SERVING NEW TREAT

Swiss Chalet has unwrapped a new treat for its 2000 Festive Special meal. Now entering its 13th year, the annual meal returns to the menus of the casual family dining restaurant with the onset of the holiday season. The dinner features Swiss Chalet's rotisserie quarter chicken, stuffing, cranberry sauce and a side order of choice. This year marks the first time the dinner will not be served with a 100g Toblerone bar but instead a gift box of Lindor chocolate truffles from Toronto-based Lindt & Sprüngli (Canada) Inc. Val Mcllroy, vice president of marketing for Cara Operations Limited, owners of Swiss Chalet, said the change from the Toblerone bars to Lindor chocolate truffles was based on research. After surveying thousands of customers, asking what they would suggest for the Festive Special treat, the end result was chocolate, she said. Swiss Chalet began testing a number of fine chocolates before deciding upon the dark, milk and white chocolate Lindor truffles. Festive Special meals will be added to the menus of all 180 Swiss Chalet locations across Canada beginning Nov. 13. An advertising campaign featuring the York Mills' St. John's Bell Choir will be heard on radio and television airwaves. Advertising from Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll of Toronto, will be supported with in-restaurant POP and a public relations program from Strategic Objectives, also of Toronto.
