SUN SETS AT AMMIRATI
By Adnews Staff
The sun has set at Toronto's Ammirati Puris. The agency and client Toronto Sun are parting ways after working together for less than a year. Ammirati won the newspaper's $1 million advertising account in January when the Toronto daily ended its long-term relationship with Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll. Mark Stevens, Toronto Sun's publisher and chief executive, called the split with Ammirati amicable, stating "we very happy with what they've done for us." The move, he said, is part of an effort to consolidate all of Sun Media's accounts with one agency, possibly a Quebecor shop, he added. Quebecor acquired Sun Media earlier this year, combining all the daily and weekly newspapers of Sun Media and Quebecor Communications under the Sun Media Corporation banner. Stevens said an agency review is expected to take several months with a final decision to be made in the new year.
