MCDONALD'S CONFIRMS RUMORS, ANNOUNCES AGENCY REVIEW
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited will brief its roster of advertising agencies today for a review that will see the burger chain consolidate its English Canada advertising business. Rumors that McDonald's would hold a review began surfacing in late September. McDonald's officially announced the review Monday, saying it plans to consolidate its $50 million English regional and English national accounts with one agency. For the past 25 years the business has been handled by a trio of agencies: Palmer Jarvis DDB of Vancouver, Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto and Halifax and Vickers & Benson Advertising of Toronto. Not affected by the review is Cossette's handling of McDonald's marketing and advertising activities in Quebec. According to McDonald's, the company is happy with all three agencies and the move to consolidate its English accounts makes good business sense. Presentations are scheduled for November 16, 2000.
