P&G SELLS CLEARASIL BRAND

In an effort to focus on its core brands, consumer goods company Procter & Gamble, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has announced the sale of its acne skin care brand Clearasil to Boots Healthcare International. BHI is the division of The Boots Company PLC, based in the United Kingdom, that markets over the counter medicines. Two of Boots' wholly owned subsidiaries, Boots Healthcare USA, Inc. and Hermal Kurt Herrmann GmbH & Co., have agreed to purchase the Clearasil brand for $340 million. P&G announced its intention to sell its Clearasil brand, which represents less than two per cent of the company's beauty care sales, in August as part of a plan to focus on its top brands. The sale is subject to regulatory approval.
