TETLEY LAUNCHES DANCE CONTEST AS "TETLEY TEA DANCE" RETURNS TO COMPANY'S ADVERTISING
By Adnews Staff
Tetley Canada Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario has launched its first ever national dance contest. The contest is a combined effort from Tetley's public relations, promotions and advertising agencies. Contestants are invited to send in a tape of them performing their version of the "Tetley Tea Dance." The dance was originally featured as a piece of the company's television creative in 1985 from McCann-Erickson. An updated version of the commercial, from Tetley's ad agency Harrod & Mirlin/FCB, began running last month. Three grand prizes of $1,000 are available to be won along with the opportunity for the winning dancers to appear in a Tetley television commercial. The contest, being organized by Tetley's promotions agency Mosaic Group of Toronto, closes January 5, 2001. The commercials featuring the winning dancers will air in the Spring. Public relations for Tetley is handled by Strategic Objectives of Toronto.
