By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Internet company AOL Canada Inc. has appointed Leo Burnett, also of that city, its advertising agency. The appointment follows a review, no futher details about which are known. Previously AOL Canada worked with Impiric of Toronto on a project basis. While the company's marketing has traditionally consisted of direct mail campaigns, last fall AOL Canada aired a series of television commercials, also from Impiric, for the first time. AOL Canada's focus is to become one of the top brands in the minds of Canadians, said Joan Simkins, director of corporate communications. Leo Burnett will be responsible for all of the company's advertising and branding initiatives. Going forward, Simkins said, AOL Canada may continue its relationship with Impiric, working with the agency from time to time on direct mail activities.
