SUMMEDIA.COM ON THE MOVE WITH NEW WIRELESS DIVISION
By Adnews Staff
Vancouver-based SUMmedia.com, which operates an eCoupon portal at <http://www.savingumoney.com>, has created a new wireless division called Go.savingumoney.com. The division takes the company's online eCoupon concept to wireless devices such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants. Go.savingumoney.com uses wireless applications to provide users who opt-in to the service access to coupons, discounts and promotional offers "anywhere, anytime." SUMmedia will roll out its first applications for mobile phones in the Hong Kong market in mid-July. Roll outs in Europe, Australia and North America are planned for next year. Wireless coupon applications for PDAs will first launch in North America, followed by launches in Europe and Asia. Users of the new Go.savingumoney.com service can choose from categories of products and services to receive a list of coupons. The Go.savingumoney.com applications will "push" coupons to users based on their purchasing preference and locations. For example, a registered user can be notified of a lunch special in their area before leaving the office for lunch. SUMmedia.com will be promoting the wireless service, but plans have not been confirmed. Advertising for SUMmedia.com is done by Palmer Jarvis DDB of Vancouver. Public relations are handled by BenchMark Porter Novelli of Toronto.
