POPSICLE JUMPS ABOARD TELETOON TOON PATROL
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based animation cable channel Teletoon and Good Humor of Oakville, Ontario have teamed up in a national promotional effort this summer. Teletoon's annual TOON Patrol will hit the road on June 28, travelling to community events and festivals across the country. Three different vans will travel the east coast, west coast and central Canada. The vans display graphics of animated characters from Teletoon's shows and carry a variety of specially-designed Popsicle games. This is the first time the Popsicle brand has taken part in a partnership of this type, said Brian Wernham, brand manager for Good Humor, which manufactures and distributes Popsicle in Canada. Previously marketing efforts for the Popsicle brand have included television advertising, a loyalty program called Popsicle points and coupons. According to Wernham, the company was looking for a unique way to reach consumers and the TOON Patrol offers Popsicle a national tour that takes the brand right to kids. In addition to the patrol, Teletoon and Popsicle have partnered on a mini Web site within Teletoon's own site at <http://www.teletoon.com>. The site will feature an interactive Popsicle game called 'Slurp N' Burp" as well as an itinerary listing of the TOON Patrol's tour. Running until Labour Day, the TOON Patrol is being supported with a 30-second promotional spot running on the station. A second 30-second spot, running throughout the summer, will detail the itineraries of each van. The spots were created by Griffin Bacal Volny of Toronto.
