MEDIA METRIX ENTERS QUEBEC MARKET
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Internet measurement company Media Metrix Canada has given Quebec-focused business a new source to turn to when deciding upon advertising and marketing plans. The company announced the addition of 1,000 French Canadian households to its on-going survey that measures which Web sites are logged onto the most. Media Metrix expects to release its first report, including the addition of its 1,000 French Canadians, the third week of June. NPD Group Canada Inc., a marketing information company, recruited French participants through phone and direct mail methods. Preliminary results show French language sites canoe.qc.ca, desjardins.com and ifrance.com among the top twenty-five sites visited by francophones. The expansion into the Quebec market brings Media Metrix's total number of users who's Web usage is tracked, to over 6,400. Participants download a software meter that works in the background of the user's PC, tracking their Web usage. A special French Canadian version of the software meter was created for the francophone market.
