Hype Media Group has announced Ed Cowan is joining the company as vice chairman of the Board of Directors. Prior to Hype, Cowan served as marketing director for the launch and rollout of MediaLynx's Sympatico Internet service. In his new role, Cowan joins Hype president Paul Gittens, Eileen Jara and chairman Tony Kilduff.
Mike Abramsky, 42, and Butch Langlois, 36, have been appointed to head up a Toronto-based online comparison shopping site called BuyBuddy.com. BuyBuddy was founded by 17-year-old Michael Furdyk and 19-year-old Michael Hayman in December 1998. Abramsky who most recently served as president of Rogers New Media will join BuyBuddy.com as chairman and CEO while Langlois, former vice president of finance and operations for Rogers New Media, will join the company as chief financial officer.
