PEPSI PROMOTION LETS CONSUMERS CHOOSE THEIR MUSIC

Pepsi-Cola Canada Ltd. of Mississauga, Ontario has teamed up with imix.com of Stamford, Connecticut in a new summer promotion. From May 15 until July 31, 2000, Canadians can collect points from over 110 million specially-marked packages of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7UP and Mountain Dew products. The specially-marked packages will be available through every channel Pepsi products are sold including grocery and convenience stores. Customers then have the opportunity to exchange their points to create their own custom compilation 5 or 10 track CD. Pepsi has over 100 artists and 200 tracks available for Canadians to choose from in creating their custom CD. Advertising support for Pepsi's "Choose Your Music" promotion includes a 30-second, English and French, television commercial and point-of-sale materials featuring life-size cut-outs of artists participating in the promotion. The television commercial, created by BBDO in New York, is scheduled to run until the end of July, when the promotion ends. Capital C of Toronto worked with Pepsi in developing the in-store materials. PR for Pepsi-Cola Canada is handled by Juniper Communications of Oakville, Ontario.
