SONY OF CANADA GROUPS PRODUCTS, NAMES NEW AOR

Toronto-based Sony of Canada has further extended its relationship with Strategic/Ampersand Inc., naming the agency public relations AOR for all of its product groups. Strategic first started working with Sony in 1986 when it began handling public relations for the former computer product division and the broadcast professional group, now called the communications systems network group. In 1999 the agency picked up the Sony Store business. Last fall Sony underwent some corporate restructuring, consolidating its consumer electronics and computer products into the audio video/information technology group. Cohn & Wolfe, which had previously held the consumer electronics group business, competed with Strategic/Ampersand for the consolidated AOR account, which was handed to Strategic late last month. Strategic's responsibilities will now include all corporate and product public and media relations for Sony of Canada.
