ZELLERS OFFERS A MILLION REASONS TO ENTER NEW CONTEST
By Adnews Staff
Zellers Inc. of Brampton, Ontario is today launching what it calls its largest promotion ever, the "Of Course I Want to be a Millionaire" Club Z contest. The contest, which will give away up to $6 million in prizes, uses scan cards. Over 15 million scan cards will be distributed across the country in Zellers stores and through newspaper deliveries. Each card has two different bar-coded areas that are scanned for prizes, depending on the amount of purchase. Each card will award the shopper a number of Club Z points, from a minimum of 300 to a maximum of 1,000,000. An additional 3,000 cards when scanned will flash the message "Millionaire Finalist." These finalists are eligible to win the grand prize draw on May 1, 2000 of $1 million. The contest is being promoted with a television advertising campaign from Toronto-based Ogilvy & Mather. The campaign, which launched yesterday during the Academy Awards broadcast, consists of three commercials. Each spot depicts a busy mother who has recently become a millionaire. Additional contest support will include in-store point-of-purchase materials. PR for Zellers is handled by Buzz Marketing & Public Relations of Toronto. The contest runs until April 20, 2000.
