THE COMMUNICATIONS GROUP LOGS ONTO UUNET

Toronto-based UUNET, an MCI WorldCom company, has appointed The Communications Group Inc. its Canadian public relations consultants-of-record. The appointment is effective immediately. The Toronto-based agency won the account over incumbent BenchMark Porter Novelli. "TCG has the knowledge, experience and background to help us move forward to generate strong corporate and product positioning in Canada," Tal Bevan, UUNET president, said. The Communications Group will be providing ongoing media relations for the commercial Internet service provider. The agency will also be assisting UUNET with its official corporate open house taking place in Toronto in early April. Julie Forkan, vice president of marketing and sales at UUNET, said the company decided at the beginning of the year to evaluate its realtionship with BenchMark while looking at what any new realationships would bring to the table. BenchMark Porter Novelli held the account for almost two years.
