Toronto-based SamtheRecordMan.com has appointed Maverick Public Relations, Riddoch Communications and the Thom Group as its agencies-of-record. All three are based in Toronto. Maverick had been shortlisted with Goodman Communications and Pydea for the public relations account, while both Riddoch Communications and the Thom Group had been working with the company since November on a project basis and won the account without reviews. Riddoch will provide creative for brand building and advertising, and the Thom Group will handle national media planning and buying for SamtheRecordMan.com. Maverick has already begun work on developing business-to-consumer, business-to-business and investor communication strategies for the company. SamtheRecordMan.com is the online version of the bricks and mortar music chain Sam The Record Man.
