MCCAIN TURNING TO OLD SOUTH

Canadian frozen food giant McCain Foods Ltd. of Florenceville, New Brunswick is moving into the old south market. According to a report from Reuters, the company has signed an agreement to sell its U.S. citrus operations and in return buy the Old South brand from Florida-based Pasco Beverage Group Inc. Financial details of the sale have not been disclosed. McCain Foods President Arnold Park said in a statement the company intends to use effective marketing to support and develop the Old South brand. According to McCain, the brand is currently the third best-selling concentrated juice brand in Canada. McCain Citrus Inc. was formed in 1985 and has three juice processing plants in Illinois, New Jersey and California.
