JWT DIGESTING ALIEN LOBSTER

In a new 30-second spot for Toronto-based Warner Lambert's Zantac 75 heartburn relief medicine, J. Walter Thompson is fighting "foods that come back to haunt you." The spot is based on a scene from the movie Alien where a space creature emerges from the belly of an unsuspecting space traveler. The Zantac spot called "Alien Lobster" features a sleeping man who wakes up in the middle of the night as a lobster bursts from his stomach. His screaming wife is seen smacking the creature with her pillow. The ad follows up on the idea that heartburn sufferers tend to blame certain food for their discomfort, said Rick Kemp, senior vice president, executive creative director for JWT. "We thought the "Alien Lobster" idea was a great way to convey the nightmare of heartburn," he said. The spot is scheduled to run nationally on English television from mid-February to mid-August.
