NIKE CANADA PUTTING E-GIFTS UNDER THE TREE
By Adnews Staff
Just in time for those last few Christmas shopping days on the calendar, Nike Canada Ltd. of Toronto has introduced the ERNEX E-Gift Program for its flagship store in Toronto. The program, from Ernex Marketing Technologies of Burnaby, British Columbia, launched last week. ERNEX E-Gifts replace paper gift certificates with electronic substitutes in the form of plastic cards with magnetic strips. The e-gifts come in denominations of $50, $100 and $200. When a customer makes a purchase, the total is deducted from the card. It is not necessary to spend the entire amount at one time. Sheldon Hu, marketing coordinator at Ernex Marketing, explained that e-gifts are similar to pre-paid phone cards. The launch of ERNEX E-Gifts is the second program Nike has run with Ernex Marketing. The two companies first worked together in April, when Nike launched its Air Max Club rewards program. According to Nike Canada, it was the success of this program that led to the decision to expand its use of Ernex's electronic marketing solutions. Currently available only at Nike Canada's flagship store, plans are being considered to expand the E-Gifts program to additional stores in the new year.
