TSN PROMOTING GRETZKY'S HOCKEY HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based sports network TSN is welcoming Wayne Gretzky to Toronto. The network is launching a new advertising campaign designed to highlight its coverage of Number 99's induction into Toronto's Hockey Hall of Fame on November 22. Print ads will begin running in daily newspapers November 19 in Toronto and Vancouver as well as in Hockey News magazine. The campaign will also include promotion on both the Elevator News Network and tsn.ca. A radio spot has also been produced for the Toronto market. The campaign was created by Toronto-based BBDO Canada. One ad features two rows of Gretzky action photos. Each city Gretzky played in is identified below each photo. The final photo features the Hockey Hall of Fame with text reading "We knew he'd get here eventually". In addition to TSN's new campaign, the network is developing a series of on-air promotions created in-house. The 15- and 30-second promo spots will advertise the induction ceremony coverage and a Dave Hodge Special featuring an interview with Wayne and his wife Janet Gretzky. TSN marketing director Adam Ashton said Gretzky's Hockey Hall of Fame induction closes a chapter in hockey history and promises to be a memorable moment in Canadian hockey history.
