B.C. CREDIT UNIONS LAUNCH NEW AD CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
British Columbia's 80 Savings and Credit Unions have launched the fifth year of its advertising campaign with a new slogan, "I Switched", and a new cast of animal characters. The campaign is encouraging consumers to transfer their financial business to a credit union, with the new commercials focusing on consumers' emotions. The campaign, from Vancouver's Wasserman & Partners Advertising Inc., includes six new 15-second television commercials. Wasserma created the campaign's "nature" theme based on animal characters in 1995. In the new commercials the frustrations of dealing with other financial institutions are seen through the characters of a puppy and a penguin trying to accomplish everyday tasks. Meanwhile, the benefits of switching are shown through characters including a hippo, a bear, a springbok and another penguin. The ads encourage consumers to call a toll-free telephone number to find out more about how to switch. B.C.'s Savings and Credit Unions operate 330 branches serving more than 125 communities.
