GCI GROUP ESTABLISHES TECHNOLOGY GROUP

Toronto-based GCI Group has established a Technology Group and appointed senior team leaders. According to Nancy Croitoru, president of GCI Group, the agency has been involved in the technology area for the last 15 years with clients such as Nintendo and Mattel Interactive. "We are thrilled to formalize this practice group with the addition of two talented, experienced technology PR specialists," she said. "Hugh Black and Cathy Cowan will focus on establishing GCI as a leading force in technology PR-while blending resources from our existing consumer and corporate teams to provide the highest levels of service, creativity and results to all of GCI's clients." Black joins GCI as vice-president of technology from National Public Relations where he was group manager. In his new role he will be responsible for establishing the Toronto practice, working closely with the agency's technology practices in the U.S. Cowan joins GCI as group manager. She will be responsible for overseeing the account teams and providing communications counsel to the agency's technology clients. She comes to GCI from Shandwick Canada, where she was account director.
