Goodman Communications Inc. of Toronto has resigned the IBM Canada Ltd. public relations account. The resignation is effective December 31, 1999. Goodman has also announced it will not be competing in IBM Canada's public relations competition this fall. According to the agency the resignation of the account will allow Goodman to offer its services to the rest of the expanding information technology industry. "We have been approached by many technology companies seeking our assistance but were unable to pursue them due to perceived conflict of interest with IBM," Goodman's vice-president Carolyn Luke said. The full-service PR agency's technology and telecommunications practice first began working with IBM Canada in 1991. In 1994 the agency won the PC Division account following a competition. Later that same year the agency again competed and won the entire IBM Canada public relations account. Goodman Communications was established in 1987. Clients of its technology and telecommunications practice include: GT Group Telecom, INTRIA Corporation, MathResources Inc., SSA Canada Corp. and Webgrrls Canada.
