RE/MAX CHOOSES GENESIS

Re/Max of Mississauga, Ont. recently handed the media portion of its account to Genesis Media of Toronto. The agency won the business after a competition with three other Toronto agencies: McLaren McCann, Ogilvy & Mather and Vickers & Benson. "Genesis demonstrated their strength, savvy and smarts in building and supporting leading brands like Re/Max," communication director David Brown says in a release. "We were most impressed with the level of proactivity demonstrated by the Genesis team, and their ability to segment our customers through a mix of industry and proprietary research and suggest an interactive and traditional media approach to reach them with impact." The incumbent on the business was Media Buying Services/The Media Company of Toronto. The real estate company spent $4.5 million on advertising in 1997, according to ACNielsen of Markham, Ont.
