CTV Television Network has decided to keep Due South around for another season. The move ended speculation that the series about a Mounty's adventures in Chicago, produced by Toronto's Alliance Communications, would be cancelled because it had been dropped by CBS in the United States. The show is still popular with Canadian viewers. Due South wasn't the only Canadian program to suffer because of the loss of its American audience. Atlantis Film's TekWar discontinued filming after being dropped by the USA Network. The nine episodes they did manage to finish will begin airing mid-season in Canada only. CTV previewed its fall lineup at a presentation in Toronto this week. Among the new hopefuls is Taking the Falls, a show about an unlikely pair of private investigators working in Niagara Falls. The network will also be debuting HOMEstyle, a Canadian lifestyle and home-improvement show which airing in the afternoons. CTV has been hyping The Beatles, a five-hour look back at the boys from Liverpool. Eric Malling will be hosting Mavericks, a look at today's most controversial political leaders. CTV is also making a concerted effort to grab a bigger share of the youth market. New youth-targeted shows are Big Shot, a sports and entertainment magazine, Game Nation, a video game lover's dream and YTV News, a program already available on YTV which is co-produced by CTV.
