HEALTH COALITION TRIES TO IMPROVE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Health Coalition wants the Federal government to put more money back into the health care system. The organization will launch a national radio campaign later this week to tell the Federal government it should take an active leadership role in health care and it should invest another $5 billion in the system. Other media may be added in the future. The ads were created by J. Goss & Associates of Toronto. The coalition says the Federal government used to be responsible for 50% of the health care costs, but now it only contributes about 15%. This has resulted in fewer services and hospital closings. In addition, the organization wants all Canadians to have access to the health care system. Canadian Health does not want a fee-for-service system, believing it would result in a two-tier health care system. The coalition says the government has cut its health care funding by $6 billion over the past three years. Canadian Health is a non-profit outfit made up of organizations and individuals interested in preserving Canada's health care system. Its members include national and local groups, senior, labor and poverty associations, churches and health care providers.
