Employees at BCTV went on strike last night for the first time. The dispute mainly affects the production and airing of local newscasts. BCTV says it is offering an average pay increase of 16% over two years to the newly unionized employees of the news room. During the strike, the morning news will be replaced with Canada AM. The evening news will consist of an extended version of Canada Tonight with anchor Tony Parson.
