IMG HOSTS SPORTING EVENT

IMG Worldwide of Toronto has organized an event for cyclists, in-line skaters and wheelchair athletes to compete for a combined purse of $75,000. Called the 1998 Toyota Queen's Park Grand Prix, the event will take place in Toronto on May 30 and will feature world and Olympic athletes. The wheelchair athletes will compete in a 10km race, the in-line skaters in a 10km or 15km race and the cyclers will compete in a 40km or 60km race. The event will be promoted using print ads in The Toronto Sun and radio ads on 102.1 The Edge. Both are sponsoring the races. The radio ads will be created by the radio station, while the print ads will be handled in-house by IMG. PR is being done by Edelman Public Relations of Toronto. The title sponsor of the race is Ontario Toyota Dealers. Other sponsors are Bauer Canada, Bell Mobility, AOL Canada, Gatorade, Timex, Tim Horton's, PowerBar, SportSwap and Grenville Printing.
