NIELSEN AND BBM FINALIZE AGREEMENT

Nielsen Media Services and BBM Bureau of Broadcast Measurement have finalized a deal to provide television measurement in Canada. The Federal Bureau of Competition Policy has approved the deal in which Nielsen will be the primary supplier of national and regional television ratings based on its electronic people meter technology. Locally, Nielsen is currently measuring Toronto and Hamilton, Ont. markets. It will expand the service to Vancouver and Montreal if there is sufficient demand. BBM will do diary measurement of local markets in which people meters are not being used.
