SEIKO BRINGS COMPUTERS DOWN A SIZE
By Adnews Staff
Just when you thought computers couldn't get any smaller, Japan-based Seiko will launch the world's first wristwatch-sized personal computer in Japan. Called Ruputer, the computer watch will be able to download text and pictures through a computer interface, as well as play games. The watch comes in two models and features a 16-bit central processing unit and 128 kilobytes of memory. Ruputer can use infrared signals to exchange data with other computer watches and personal computers. The watch comes with three software applications based on the Microsoft Windows 95 operating system. Seiko expects to sell 100,000 watches in its first year on the market. Currently, it doesn't have plans to market the product in North America.
