TRANSCONTINENTAL FORMS LOYALTY MARKETING UNIT

G.T.C. Trancontinental Group of Montreal has launched a new division that will offer interactive kiosks to retailers. The division is called Transcontinental e.media. The kiosks are similar in appearance to bank machines. They will have two screens: one will promote sales in the store and point customers to the location of specific items in the store, while the other will do such things as dispense discount coupons and recipes. To use the kiosk, a customer must receive a smart card from the retailer and rack up points on the card as they make purchases at the store. When using the kiosk, the customer inserts the smart card into the machine. They will then receive discount coupons for products that they use. The amount of the discount depends on the number of points they have accumulated. With the smart card, retailers can keep track of the spending habits of their customers, allowing them to offer certain specials to individual customers. The first kiosks will be placed in a grocery store chain in Western Canada by the summer. G.T.C is also in negotiations with other retailers across Canada to launch the kiosks nationally.
