INTERNET COMPUTER STORE GIVES AWAY COMPUTER STUFF

MegaDepot of Vancouver is giving away $20,000 in prizes this month as part of its virtual grand opening. MegaDepot sells computer products online. Contestants can win one of the prizes by filling out a ballot on the company's Web site. Winners will receive such prizes as laptop computers and software. Winners will be announced at the end of the month. MegaDepot has actually been operating for six months, but wanted to get the site fully operational before beginning its promotions. The company is supporting its 'virtual' grand opening using Internet ads, print ads in The Globe and Mail and computer publications, as well as radio and TV promotions. Advertising for MegaDepot is done in-house. NATIONAL Public Relations of Toronto is doing PR. MegaDepot sells a range of computer products from manufacturers such as Microsoft Corp., Microtek, 3Com and Hewlett Packard. Later this year, he will begin selling CDs and books.
