UUNET MOVES TO BENCHMARK
By Adnews Staff
UUNET Canada of Toronto recently handed its PR business to Benchmark Communications. The Toronto agency won the business after a competition with three other agencies. Benchmark was chosen because of its "style of business and its understanding of the marketplace," UUNET spokesperson Richard Cantin told Adnews yesterday. The incumbent on the business was Atkins & Ellis of Toronto. UUNET decided to hire a new agency because of a client conflict. A&E was bought by GENERATORIDEAWORKS (formerly The Gaylord Group) of Toronto last fall. GENERATORIDEAWORKS handles some business for Bell Canada. UUNET is a commercial Internet access provider. UUNET Canada is majority owned by U.S.-based UUNET Technologies, a subsidiary of WorldCom, Inc.
