MICHELIN MAN GOES ON A DIET

The Michelin man has slimmed down as he approaches his 100th birthday. The advertising character, which has been used in Michelin tire ads since 1898, will soon appear in a new slimmer version to mark his 100 years as a representative of the Dorval, Quebec tire maker. Until now, the character looked like a stack of tires with arms. His appearance has been changed many times over the years, but his waistline has always been inflated.
