NCC WANTS TO END POSTAL MONOPOLY

The National Citizens' Coalition wants to end the postal monopoly. The organization launched a full-page newspaper ad in The Financial Post yesterday that tells Canadians postal strikes wouldn't hold them hostage if they had a choice when it comes to first class mail. The ad features a baseball and the headline. "Tired of Postal Union Bosses Playing Hardball? Then Help us end Canada Post's Monopoly." The goal of the ad is to encourage Canadians to call their MPs and donate funds to the NCC. Currently, the ad is scheduled to run just once, but it may run again depending on how long the postal strike lasts and whether NCC receives more donations. The ad was created in-house and was placed by Griffin, Bacal, Volny of Toronto. The NCC would like to see the federal government allow companies to compete with Canada Post in delivering first-class mail. Currently, the practice is illegal unless the company charges three-times the cost.
