COMPANY WITH LARGE THEATRES CHECKING OUT CANADA

U.S. movie theatre operator AMC Entertainment of Kansas City is taking a look at expanding into Canada, spokesperson Cliff Narbey told Adnews yesterday. "We're just doing market research now, then we'll be making up our minds." A decision will be made by November. After that the company will decide whether to look for a Canadian ad agency, said Narbey. AMC operates over 1,600 screens in 231 theatres across the U.S. Its locations are mammoth. In Dallas AMC has a complex with 24 screens measuring 20 by 10 metres each. It holds 5,000 people who enjoy the comfort of large seats with plenty of leg room and have a clear view of the movie thanks to the steep stadium-style design. The complex is surrounded by a 2000-space parking lot.
