GLOBE REVAMPS SPORTS SECTION
By Adnews Staff
The Globe and Mail has enhanced its Sports section. In the Metro edition, the sports section has doubled in size, reaching up to six pages. Previously it was just over 2 pages. The National edition has grown 25%, up from just over one page to just over two. New features include: The Hockey Page, which provides in-depth coverage of Canadian teams, as well as hockey news six-days-a-week. Boxscore will be a daily facts box that will sum up Canada's athletes and teams. It will include "Hot Seat," which will put well-known athletes under the gun and "Chances Are," where experts will set odds for sport events. The Metro edition will include coverage of all Toronto teams, as well as national and international sports stories. The Globe and Mail launched a print, radio and outdoor campaign last week to promote the sports section. The ads were created by Brandworks International of Toronto. Shandwick Canada of Toronto is doing PR.
