By Adnews Staff
Yesterday, Regina-based Humpty's Family Restaurants and Saskatchewan Health held a press conference at Miller High School in Regina to kick-off a campaign called "Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention...Begins with the Moments We Share". The campaign consists of a series of radio ads aimed at parents, focusing on the idea that time spent together as a family and open communication are the keys to preventing substance abuse in young people. The ads will run throughout September. "The family plays a very important role in preventing alcohol and other drug abuse," said Clay Serby, Saskatchewan's Minister of Health, "And this promotion will help encourage communication between parents and children." According to the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, alcohol and other drug abuse costs the residents of Saskatchewan approximately $583 million annually.
