QUEBECOR TO ENTER BROADCAST BUSINESS

Montreal-based printing and publishing giant Quebecor is expanding into the broadcast business. The company is buying Montreal's French-language Television Quatre Saisons network jointly with Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. Cancom is 51% owned by WIC Western International Communications and 24% by Rogers Communications. Under the deal, Quebecor will control the venture, while Cancom will offer infrastructure and satellite delivery experience. The trustee for the sale is Groupe Videotron ltee. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission ruled in February that Videotron could buy CFCF Inc.'s cable TV unit if CFCF's Quartre Saisons network were sold. WIC is buying CFCF's English-language network.
