Responsible Gambling Council begins advertising study

The Responsible Gambling Council of Toronto has received funding from sports betting company Flutter Entertainment to conduct research on marketing and advertising in the online gambling industry. The study will be conducted by the council’s Centre for the Advancement of Best Practices. According to the organization, it will examine current marketing and advertising activites by online gambling companies globally and will provide policy recommendations for new markets such as Ontario and New Jersey. The study is expected to by complete by early 2024. The Responsible Gambling Council is a non-profit organization focusing to problem gambling prevention.

“Through this research, we not only have the ability to affect necessary changes to our marketing and advertising standards here in Ontario, but also the ability to make great impacts to the harm minimization efforts of jurisdictions all around the world,” said Shelley White, CEO of the organization. “This comprehensive study highlights the culture shift that the industry is currently undergoing and, by leveraging our research partners, we can make greater impacts in protecting players and communities.”
