Muslim youth association begins awareness campaign

Advocacy organization the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association has begun a national campaign called “Islam in Motion: I Am a Muslim, Ask Me Anything.” During the initiative, members of the group will visit various cities and towns with a mobile installation at which they can conduct conversations with local residents. The intent, according to the association, is to counter misconceptions about Islam. The campaign begins on August 14 in Montreal and August 15 in Ottawa, before moving to Saskatoon, Calgary and Vancouver. In September, the installation will visit a number of cities in Ontario.

“This is a very timely and much-needed initiative,” said Zubair Afzal, national president of the association. "We feel that it is our responsibility as Muslims to convey the true, peaceful teachings of Islam to Canadians. We look forward to meeting our fellow Canadians and answering any questions.”
