Ontario One Call begins awareness campaign

Ontario One Call, a not-for-profit organization that handles communications between utility companies, underground infrastructure owners and individuals seeking to dig on their properties, has begun a new awareness campaign called “Get the Dirt.” According to the group, the effort is timed to coincide with spring home improvement projects by consumers. It features contractor and television personality Kate Campbell, who reminds consumers they are required to confirm with the organization that there are no buried utility lines or pipes on their property before they begin such a project.

“Homeowner projects that involved digging were up 20% last year due to people spending more time at home, and we need them to be safe,” said Ian Simpson, director of education, marketing and compliance at the organization.
