FOUNDATION LOTTERY A SELL-OUT SUCCESS
By Adnews Staff
The Heart and Stroke Multi-Million Dollar Lottery has sold out early. Run by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the lottery began Jan. 2 and raised nearly $6 million for research into heart disease and stroke. Final draws for the over-$7 million worth of cash and prizes will be held on Feb. 21. The lottery had been heavily promoted in ads running on TV, radio and in print, as well as brochures throughout Ontario. One TV spot featured a grandmother imagining what she would do with her lottery winnings. At first she imagines giving gifts to relatives, but gradually progresses to thinking about a condominium complete with a pool boy. The foundation is now running ads on TV, radio and in print saying the lottery is sold out and thanking participants for their support. SMW Advertising Ltd. of Toronto handled all of the lottery's advertising.
