GoFundMe debuts charitable donation service

Crowdfunding website GoFundMe has launched a new service in Canada intended to simplify fundraising activities for registered charities. The service is being operated in association with the PayPal Giving Fund. Canadian users of the site can now create fundraising campaigns, donations to which will go to the nominated charity. Canadian charities that are making use of the service include Shelterbox Canada, Rethink Breast Cancer, WarChild Canada and Relay Education.

“Crowdfunding has transformed the traditional fundraising landscape in recent years,” said GoFundMe CEO Rob Solomon. “Online fundraising on GoFundMe is opening up innovative avenues for Canadian charities to be more nimble, benefit from new forms of fundraising and reach new demographics. It also puts the power in the hands of Canadian donors who can be a force of change for causes they care about most.”
